Overview of Class 10 MATHS NCERT Solutions Chapter Wise
Chapter 1: Real Numbers: Real Numbers in Class 10 explain real and irrational numbers in a simple way. It starts with Euclid’s Division Lemma, which says that any two positive numbers can be divided to get a unique quotient and remainder. Using this, the Euclid’s Division Algorithm helps find the HCF (Highest Common Factor) of two numbers.
The chapter also explains the Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic, which is useful for finding both HCF and LCM (Lowest Common Multiple). It also covers several topics such as, real numbers, irrational numbers, rational numbers, and Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic.
Chapter 2: Polynomial: This chapter explains different types of polynomials such as linear, quadratic, and cubic. It begins by describing what the degree of a polynomial means. The chapter has four exercises (one optional).
You’ll learn how to find the number of zeroes of a polynomial using graphs and understand what zeroes mean geometrically. It also covers the relationship between zeroes and coefficients of a polynomial and teaches you how to find zeroes of quadratic polynomials or even form a polynomial when zeroes are given.
Chapter 3: PAIR OF LINEAR EQUATIONS IN TWO VARIABLES: In this chapter, you will learn Graphical method, Substitution method, Elimination method, or imaginary, along with examples from real-life situations.
Chapter 4: QUADRATIC EQUATIONS: Quadratic Equations explains what a quadratic equation is and how to solve it using different methods. You will learn to find the roots of quadratic equations using methods like factorization and completing the square.
Chapter 5: ARITHMETIC PROGRESSIONS: The Arithmetic Progressions chapter explains the concept of number patterns called Arithmetic Progression. The chapter has four exercises in total.
You’ll learn what an AP is, how to find the nth term and the sum of the first n terms, and how to solve real-life problems using AP.
Chapter 6: TRIANGLES: Learn about triangle theorems, including similarity, congruence, area relations, and the Pythagoras theorem.
Chapter 7: COORDINATE GEOMETRY: The Coordinate Geometry chapter introduces you to plotting and locating points with (x, y) coordinates. It also explains how to find distances, areas, and section points by using coordinate geometry.
Chapter 8: INTRODUCTION TO TRIGONOMETRY: This chapter teaches the basics of trigonometry, which connects the sides and angles of a right triangle.
You’ll learn about trigonometric ratios for angles 0°, 30°, 45°, 60°, and 90°, and how to calculate these ratios for given angles.
The chapter also explains basic trigonometric identities and shows the relationship between angles and their ratios, helping you build a strong foundation in trigonometry.
Chapter 9: SOME APPLICATIONS OF TRIGONOMETRY: Some Applications of Trigonometry shows how trigonometry is used in real life. It helps you learn how to find the height and distance of objects without directly measuring them.
You’ll also understand how trigonometry is used in navigation, map-making, and finding locations using longitudes and latitudes. The chapter introduces important terms like line of sight, angle of elevation, and angle of depression.
Chapter 10: CIRCLE: This chapter builds on what you have already learned about chords, segments, and arcs. In this chapter, you’ll study how a circle and a line can exist on the same plane.
It mainly focuses on tangents to a circle and the number of tangents that can be drawn from a point to a circle.
You’ll learn two important topics in this chapter

The lengths of tangents drawn from an external point to a circle are equal.
Chapter 11: AREAS RELATED TO CIRCLES: This chapter is also related to Circles, it helps you understand how to find the perimeter and area of a circle. You will also learn how to calculate the area of a sector and a segment of a circle.
The chapter explains how to find the area of figures that include a circle or part of a circle.

Chapter 12: SURFACE AREAS AND VOLUMES: Surface Areas and Volumes teaches how to find the surface area and volume of different 3D shapes. This chapter has five exercises with questions on combining two solid shapes like a cuboid, cone, cylinder, sphere, or hemisphere.
You’ll also learn how to find the volume of combined solids and solve problems where a solid changes from one shape to another.
